Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, this year marks the inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference, an annual event that convenes high profile figures, thought leaders and practitioners from the fields of international politics, diplomacy, academia and the private sector.
Hosted by the Emirates Diplomatic Academy (EDA), the UAE’s leading international relations and diplomatic institution, the conference will take place from 14-15 November at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference will provide a premier interdisciplinary platform for participants to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends and challenges, as well as practical solutions, in the field of diplomatic practice.
A space for leading practitioners to share experience of practical solutions
Developing new ways of enhancing the effectiveness of diplomacy
Providing an opportunity to connect with other leading experts and practitioners
Drawing on current as well as past transformations, the conference will address the following themes:
How to empower female diplomats in their careers
What competencies diplomats need and how to train them
How to use technology to enhance the impact of diplomacy
How to conduct effective cultural and public diplomacy
The two-day conference will include keynote speaker sessions, interactive panel discussions and various practical workshops designed to identify effective solutions that can be implemented by ministries of foreign affairs across the globe. The Future Diplomats PeaceGame will also run throughout the event.
Attendees will comprise serving and former senior diplomats (including former foreign ministers, undersecretaries and ambassadors), directors of diplomatic academies, leading young diplomats (and trainees) from around the world and other thought leaders on diplomatic practice.
The agenda has been strategically designed to encourage mutual inspiration and fruitful debate among participants. Participants will be offered the opportunity to contribute to the conference in various capacities.
